Cherry Blossom Tree

After visiting with my parents this weekend I got to thinking about how much I love my Mum. I realize that it's still 3 months away, but I wanted to make a bright cheerful card for her. Hopefully this one will make her smile when she does finally receive it!

WOYWW 403

This weeks desk is lacking in inspiration. Lots of products and no results. Somewhere off to the side is my notebook which has the ideas for next weeks cards jotted in it. Once I get things done over the weekend it will be time to live up to my reputation and get this all cleaned up. 😀

Grab a cuppa your fave beverage and head on over to Julia's for a little while and visit with a group of lovely ladies.

Serene Tree and Sympathy

Sadly, everyone needs sympathy cards once in a while. Fortunately, this is not one of those times for me. I just wanted a card to have on hand, and this did the trick. Soft greens seem to make this a serene, restful looking card.

Friendship Under a Sheltering Tree

Today's card uses the beautiful Sheltering Tree stamp. I haven't spent nearly enough time playing with this set. I love the soft combination of Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry. It's next to impossible to see in the picture, but there are diagonal scored lines on the base Whisper White layer. The idea for this card came from Julie Gearinger. Thanks Julie!

Now, once I write my message on the inside, this card will be winging its way to a special friend. Hope she likes it as much as I do!

Rocking Your World--Week 7

Yay, it's Friday! That means two things first I'm done with work for the week and it's a long weekend here so woohoo three days off and second it's time to visit with Virginia and Annie.

The little Gorgeous celebrated her third birthday on Monday so we had some gifts and cake at home since she had her party with friends last week. It snowed heavily all weekend so Nana and Papa didn't make it out to get birthday wrapping paper. That meant that all her gifts were wrapped in Christmas paper. Not that she noticed--I think the paper lasted all of 5 seconds 😂

The icky weekend weather did mean that I got to spend some quality couch time with Mr R and I got to spend time in the craft corner. That's a win-win as far as I'm concerned.

And the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead aired on Sunday. Weirdo I may be, but it's my favorite show and I've been missing it.

The rest of the week has been pretty quiet which suits me just fine. We got some more snow, but not as much as over the weekend.

Now I'm just gearing myself up to pick up my parents tomorrow and make the trek to my sister's in Ottawa to drop them off for a few weeks visit. Ten hours round trip is not making me smile, but it will be good for them to get away so trek I must.

In honour of the not so lovely snowstorm, here are a few funnies.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

A Cute Thank You

Brand new babies come with lots of brand new gifts. Quick and easy to make thank you cards are always appreciated by new parents. This little card breaks land speed records for making and is easy peasy to mass produce. The embossing adds just a little bit extra detail.

WOYWW 402

It's Tuesday night and the lighting is bad, sorry.

Again we have a fully loaded desk. No Chromebook in sight this time so that must mean I've been busy making cards, not surfing the net. I have boxes and boxes of handmade cards sitting in the craft corner. I do send some out, but not nearly enough to keep up with the creating. Anyone out there want some cards?

And Lucy (EmbroidRage), that pink toy is my ATG tape gun that I just can't live without! It's always close to hand.

Time to see what Julia and company are up to this week.

Snips and Snails...

That nursery rhyme gives little boys a bad rap. They are just as cute as baby girls and need a card befitting that cuteness. Blues with a neutral colour are a classic combination for baby boys.

Rocking Your World--Week 6

Bit late this week I'm afraid. I thought that I would write this up last night when we got home from work as Friday is usually an earlier day. As luck would have it, we had a steady snow fall all day and it took us 3 hours just to get home. Normal travel is 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

I guess that my first positive for this week will be that even though it took forever, we got home safely. There were loads of accidents on the highway, one of them looking very serious with multiple fire trucks, police cars and ambulances.

On Tuesday we had dentisit appointments. Just a cleaning, but while there Mr R was discovered to have a cavity so it was some extra time in the chair for him. Me--I was all clear which definately made me smile as I have a severe phobia of getting needles in my mouth. It also doesn't help that I seem to need about 3X the anasthetic of a normal person just to get me numbed enough to work on. Even then I can feel the pain, it's just dulled down to a bearable level.

This coming Monday is the little Gorgeous' 3rd birthday. I just keep shaking my head--where did 3 years go so quickly? Her Mama had a birthday party yesterday for her down at her Great Auntie's house. Sadly, I was working, but I have been assured that she had a wonderful time.

I'll leave you with a couple of pictures of the festivities and then pop over to see Virginia and Annie.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Christmas Card of the Month

I love this card. You can't tell from the picture, but the branches are cut from Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and the ornament and peace are both covered in clear embossing powder. It really gives it a nice shine in person.

If you would like to try your hand at making your own handmade Christmas cards I'd love to have you join me on February 19 at 2:00 p.m. You will make 5 cards of the same design and the fee of $20 includes all the supplies you will need. Rocking Your World Friday--Week 5

Another week has flown by just like that and it's once again time to visit with Virginia and Annie.

This week has again been fairly quiet with not a lot going on.

Mr R and I managed to get in another lunch date this week. I think we have found the fastest drive-thru known to man. Six minutes from leaving our parking lot to being back in our lunchroom with sacks of food in hand. Can't beat that--doesn't cut too much into the allotted lunch time!

Mr R's appointment with the eye specialist who couldn't find anything at all wrong. (Optometrist was concerned as Mr R has two different coloured eyes LOL).

A quick run to my parents on Saturday to take Dad grocery shopping and a nice long chat with my sister on Saturday night. She's be away for 6 weeks in Australia so it was good to have a catch up.

A lovely bit of time spent in the craft corner making cards and sniffing new packs of paper. I know I'm not the only one, but it feels really odd to like the way brand new packs of paper smell!

Looking forward to some time in the corner this weekend as well. Lots of ideas have been popping into my head this week.

And lastly, the sky seems lighter when we are leaving for work in the morning. That really makes me smile as it means that soon spring will be here!

I'll leave you with this pic of the Gorgeous and the Handsome that also made me smile.

Have a wonderful week!

It's a Sunshiny Day

Today's card is also for a special person. My sister Pam and I don't spend a lot of time together, but she is a terrific big sister and whenever we are together we have loads of fun (can you say wine and shopping!).

I thought the colour would be perfect for her because she is usually bright and sunny.

Stylish Card for a Special Person

This week we are playing with the stamp set Beautiful You. I really like this set as the images seem classic and the sentiments are terrific.

This card will be going to a very special person, my friend who I have known for almost all of my life. We would sit beside each other in the baby swings at the park and went from kindergarden all the way through high school together. Hope she likes her card!

Rock Your World Friday--Week 4

And again Friday rolls around, both much too quickly and not quickly enough. Time to rock the week with Virginia.

I've managed to have an unspectacular week. Sometimes I feel like I'm just going in circles, work, sleep, work, sleep. Ah well, I'm sure it will eventually even out--hopefully before I'm dead 😝

Let's see, the positives for the week...

I managed to get my cards done for the week on Sunday.

Caught up on a couple of my shows during the evenings after work.

Watched Mr R play video games and look find answers online when he got stuck rotten.

A surprise lunch date on Wednesday when Mr R decided we should go out and pick up burgers.

And now, cause I need them too, some giggles to share with Annie.

And my favorite.

Ice Cream in Winter

I totally cased a card made by Shannon Colon, so a big thanks to her. 😀

When I was a kid, I loved Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and even now, with all the grownup flavours that are available, it's still one of my favorites. Even though we're in the middle of winter right now, I'm feeling for some ice cream!

The colours I used are Mint Macaron, Chocolate Chip and Crumb Cake.

Well, we've arrived at mid-week again. That can only mean one thing, it's time to have a nosey around other craft desks with Julia. Due to a time crunch I wasn't able to pop about visiting last week, but I would like to thank everyone who stopped by here. Let's hope this week will be better.

This week my desk has the stamp set I plan to use for next weeks cards. There's also some inks and papers that I'm trying to decide on. We'll see how that goes.

More Birthday Cake

Thanks to Sally Shaw at Sallystampers.com for the idea for this card.

Surprisingly it came together pretty quickly. Ink colours are Melon Mambo, So Saffron. Then just Vellum Cardstock and Pop of Pink DSP, along with Gold embossing powder and some Melon Mambo enamel shapes. I think I should have used more glue dot to hold down the vellum 😖.

Biggest Birthday Ever for Alessia

I can't believe a very special little person is turning 3 in a couple of weeks. Yes, my granddaughter, the little Gorgeous is going to be 3! Where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday she was a tiny baby 😊.

A special day deserves a special card.  I used the Biggest Birthday Ever stamps and matching framelits along with the Cupcake Cutouts framelits and sentiment from Sweet Cupcake. The colours used are Wisteria Wonder, Blushing Bride, Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight.

Rock Your World Friday--Week 3

I don't know where the week has gone. What is it about getting older that makes the time seem to pass so much more quickly? In the blink of an eye it's time to join up with Virginia again and revisit the happy moments from the week.

I'll start with my Saturday visit to my parents. They are both elderly now (88 and 90) and neither one of them really drives anymore so it falls to me to take my Dad out grocery shopping so that they can eat for the week 😀. Sometimes it feels like a bit of a chore as they live about an hour and a half drive from me, but I know that I am truly blessed that I still have them both in my life and the lives of my kids and grandkids.

Saturday evening was Chinese takeout for dinner (Mr R's choice as it was his birthday dinner). One word: nummy!

I've been trying to blog regularly and to that end I've been trying to get the cards done for my posts on the weekend. I would say it's been pretty successful. I only had one card that I had yet to make, but sadly, it didn't get done. Oh well, guess I'll just be posting it late.

That's about the extent of it this week, but I did spend it with family so it's all good.

I'll leave you with a poem that made me smile and will, I think, speak to most of us, no matter what type of crafting we do. I'll have to share this on Annie's Friday Smiles as well, because I think this counts!

Thanks to Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek for this fun poem!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Thanks to Brigitte Keiling for the idea for this card. I believe hers is a birthday card, but when I saw the Pink Pirouette with gold I immediately thought of a congratulations card for a new baby. Rock Your World Friday--Week 2

Once again it's Friday and time to join in with Virgina and look back at what's been going on this week.

The biggest thing this week was Mr R's birthday on Wednesday. We actually had an afternoon appointment at home that day so were were able to leave work about 6 hours earlier than usual. This gave us most of the afternoon to spend together which was fab. Sadly, that evening, the birthday boy had an attack of his Chrones which made for a sleepless night for both of us, but it did give us an unscheduled day off work on Thursday.

I managed to spend some crafty time at my desk over the weekend and I made time for it a couple of evenings too. I was a "last minute Lucy" in making Mr R's card, but it did get done in time 😌. Speaking of birthday cards, last year I had such fun when I offered to send a birthday card to anyone who wanted one, I'm going to do it again this year. Send me a message with your birthday and address to cardiologydepartment@outlook.com and I'd be happy to send you some birthday cheer. I am willing to post anywhere in the world so please join in if you are so inclined.

Managed to have a chat with my oldest friend (we've known each other since we were about 2 years old!). It doesn't matter how much time has passed since we've spoken, we just fall right back into where we were.

That's about it for this week my friends. I'll just add a couple of funnies for Annie and Co to smile at.

Lift Me Up Birthday

For my final card this week I decided on a birthday card. I've decided that I'm going to revist something I did last year during the #imbringingbirthdaysback movement. Anyone who wants a handmade birthday card from me just needs to send me a message to cardiologydepartment@outlook.com and I would be happy to pop some happy mail in the post for you. It was loads of fun last year so I can't wait to do it again this year.

The idea for this card came from another SU! demonstrator, Carolyn King. Colours used are Night of Navy, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi, Old Olive, Smokey Slate and Soft Sky. Trees are from Lovely as a Tree.

Lift Me Up Father's Day

For today's card, I decided to case right from the new Occasions catalogue. I love the simplicity and colours of this card and thought it would be great for Father's Day. I used the same background paper as yesterday's card.

Just a couple of colours today, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black and Crumb Cake. The background grid stamp is retired, but there is a similar one available in the Timeless Textures set. The Father's Day stamp is retired, but you could use the one in Guy Greetings.

Lift Me Up Anniversary

This week I'll be making cards with the Lift Me Up bundle in the brand new Occasions catalogue. I love this fun stamp set and matching framelits. The best part is, if you buy them both as a bundle you will save 10% on the cost of buying them separately. I love me a discount!

When I received this set I couldn't wait to have a play with that large, intricate balloon die. While trying to figure out which background paper I wanted to use, I remembered the stacks of paper I still have from last year's Sale-A-Bration. Come on, admit it, there are more paper hoarders than just me out there! This one reminded me of the sky with vague clouds so I thought it would be perfect for what I had in mind.

The colours I used for the balloon were Basic Gray, Smokey Slate, Tempting Turquoise, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight.

Christmas Card of the Month

I'm bringing back my Christmas card of the month this year. It's so much easier to make a few at the beginning of each month than try and get everything done in the last two weeks before Christmas, stressing myself out in the process.

Wow, it's still Christmas

Happiness is a new box of goodies! Had to wait until after Christmas to place my order so I could see how much I had available to spend 😏. (Darn adult responsibilities taking over my bank account--the nerve!)
This box of goodness was on my porch when I arrived home from work on Thursday, but I haven't had the time to break into it until now. Got some stuff from the Stampin' Up! Annual catty, some from the new Occasions catty and a few things from the Holiday catty that I hadn't got around to getting yet.
Dive into the box with me and let's see what I got myself for Christmas.

Rock Your World Friday--Week 1

The first Friday of 2017. Let's hope it's a wonderful year for everyone!
It's been so long, I can't wait to share my positives with all my bloggy friends. Even though I haven't been around much, I have been visiting your blogs when I have a moment and keeping up with your lives. I must admit that I have missed joining in with you all.
My work hours are still horrendous, being away from home for about 14 hours a day, but I have decided that I can't let work take over my entire life, so to that end, I'm making a conscious decision to keep up with my blog no matter what.
My first positive for this week is making the decision that this year I am going to put effort into my Stampin' Up! business and see if I can't at least earn enough money to pay for my habit. That is the reason for this new blog and the commitment to post regularly. I'd love for you to subscribe if you feel so inclined. 😀
We enjoyed a lovely family Christmas with my parents and son, daughter in law and their little Handsome. We had loads of fun opening gifts, eating too many goodies and stuffing ourselves with a wonderful turkey dinner. Somehow I didn't manage to take a single picture, now how did that happen?
Mr R and I had a quiet New Year's Eve at home all by our lonesomes. It was quite fun drinking hot chocolate and playing the new video games until all hours, just enjoying each others company and some quiet time in an empty house.
Our daughter and the Gorgeous were at a relatives for New Years, but they sent me this picture which certainly made me smile enough to join up with Annie and share.

The rest of this week has been quiet as it is still only Mr R and myself at home so we have been enjoying take out for dinner every night as neither of us feels like cooking when we finally do get home.
Thursday saw the arrival of my Christmas present to me. I was so excited to finally get it that I made a video for yesterday's post. Even though it was late when we got home, it was waiting on my doorstep so I thought it would be a perfect thing to blog about.
That's about all for this week. Time to go and join up with Virginia and let everyone know that I am still around.

Thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW 396

Ah, the glorious plans for a new year. Notice I said "plans" and not resolutions. I don't do well with resolutions, plans on the other hand seem a bit more user-friendly. 😉 My plan for this year is to try and blog and craft more regularly.

To that end, here is the first view of my desk for 2017. Wait, is that a Christmas card??? Isn't Christmas over for another year? The short answer is yes and yes, but I have decided to do what I did last year and make 5 cards each month for the year so that I have an ample stash ready to send out. I have learned that if I leave it to the bitter end, no one gets a Christmas card and I feel guilty that I didn't do it yet again. I'm a card maker for goodness sake so get it together woman!

Come and play along with Julia and show us what you're up to. There's no maximum occupancy so everyone is welcome to come over and party.
